Teaching Philosophy

Constructivist Pedagogy: I believe students should mentally reconstruct concepts rather than rely on rote memorization.

Fluency: I encourage students to speak and write about math. If you can explain it, you own it.

Technology: Calculators are tools, not crutches. We focus on the logic first.

Tutoring History

From private centers in Illinois and Michigan to nearly 20 years in Charlotte, NC, I have tutored hundreds of students from high-achieving public and private schools.

I am intimately familiar with the curricula of competitive schools and prepare my students for success after high school.

Disney Backstage

My career has taken me to unique places—including tutoring a young actor for the traveling show of Disney's The Lion King. We met backstage before shows to master her AP Statistics course.

The Science of Learning

I hold a double-major in Math and Psychology from Loyola-Chicago. I conducted research on unconscious memory at McMaster University under Dr. Larry Jacoby.

This background allows me to tailor my teaching to how the human brain actually processes and retains complex information.

AP & IB Expertise

I have tutored hundreds of AP/IB students. The vast majority earn maximum scores on their exams (never 3 or lower).

I specialize in these advanced courses and have far more experience than most local instructors.
